You’ve probably heard about HIIT, short for High Intensity Interval Training. It’s a method that consists in the application of high intensity effort during a training session, combined with rest intervals.
There are records of trainings such as this since the beginning of the last century, but it was in 1952, during Helsinki’s Olympic Games, that the method was “presented” to the sports world. Czech runner Emil Zatopek was the first, and up to now the only, to win in the same Olympic Games the 5.000 meters’ race, the 10.000 meters’ race, and the marathon – proving, with that, the advantages of interval training.
