Closing apps does not save your battery
One step forward, please, those who have never double-tapped the home button of the iPhone or hit the multitasking key on the Android to close the apps resting on the device with the purpose of saving some battery. It’s kind of a relief really, isn’t it?
Well, we’re sorry to inform you but we’ve been doing it wrong. A few days ago both Apple and Google confirmed that closing apps does not help if what we’re looking for is saving our phones’ battery. On the contrary; it might even make things worse!
The full explanation may take a while, but we’ll brief you: think that, if we close an app, the device will need much more effort when we need to re-open it. This clearly can demand more energy than if we simply let them ‘rest’ there - meaning, if we leave them be.
In other words, our phone’s algorithms know what to do on their own, thank you very much.
