Self-cleaning Xiaomi mask

Through the ultraviolet disinfection system, Xiaomi's new mask disinfects itself and does not interfere with facial recognition.

Known for its range of affordable gadgets, the Chinese manufacturer is developing a smart mask. The novelty has N95 protection, removable air filters and ultraviolet light emitters, its charging will be carried out with USB-C.

The project is being created by the subsidiary company Huami, with a focus on wearables. Since most smartphones do not recognize the masks, the initiative will reveal facial expressions - helping to unlock the phone without the need to remove face protection.

The front part will be transparent and the device will be made of flexible and soft material. The air flow must be provided by replaceable filters, next to a fan - preventing the mask from fogging. When not being worn, ultraviolet light will perform disinfection.


Its AQI sensor (Air Quality Index), will provide information on humidity, filter expiration, air quality and respiratory rate. It will be possible to customize your mask according to personal taste, changing the color of the strips and removable visor. 


The novelty has no release date yet, meanwhile: continue washing your masks frequently, using alcohol gel and taking all necessary care.
