GM launches new Hummer EV

Introduced in the United States by GM, the new $ 112,595 Hummer EV sold out in just 10 minutes.

The first 100% electric vehicle of the brand arrives on the American market in 2021, the novelty will have a top version with three engines and more than 1,000 horsepower. Bringing back the name of the old vehicle of military origin, the GMC Hummer EV in the most complete version costs “only” US $ 112,595 (R $ 630,000) in direct conversion.

Even with a high price, all units of the pickup sold out in 10 minutes during the launch last week. Keeping the identity of the original H1, the pickup truck incorporates the lines of a futuristic jeep. The cracks between the headlights show the status of the battery charge.

“We had a goal for HUMMER EV: to build the most impressive truck in history,” said Al Oppenheimer, the project's chief engineer.

"It's a totally off-road beast with an exclusive e-4WD drive system that offers maneuverability unlike anything GM has ever offered before."

Equipped with new electric propulsion units, the Ultium Drive set consists of three electric motors allocated in the two drive units, providing four-wheel drive. The estimated power is an impressive 1,000 hp and 1,590 kgm of torque. According to GM, the Hummer EV will be able to accelerate from 0 to 62 miles/ h in just 3 seconds.

With various equipment available, among them are: 18 cameras, front and rear, 14.4 multimedia system that evaluates the conditions of the terrain, electric hood and adaptive steering control. It is also compatible with public fast charging systems from 800 volts up to 350 kW, in just 10 minutes it is possible to charge for 100 kilometers.

Not only that, the truck also has the CrabWalk system, where the front and rear wheels provide diagonal movement of the vehicle (just like a crab). The suspension allows the height of the vehicle to be increased by 15 centimeters, ideal for flooded or rocky terrain.
