CES 2021: LG presents the transparent TV
During CES 2021, LG introduced the new transparent OLED TV that “hides” at the foot of the bed..
Last Monday (11), the Consumer Electronic Show (CES), the largest technology fair in the world, took place digitally. As always, televisions are the most successful item demonstrating the full potential of today's technologies. LG introduced its 55-inch smart TV that achieves up to 40% transparency, superior to other prototypes with only 10% translucency.
The novelty integrates into the base of the bed and goes down or up according to the user's commands. The transparent TV stands out for its technology that displays information such as weather, time and reading guide. Details about the sound have not yet been released, but would be integrated into the fixed part of the prototype. "Transparent OLED is a technology that maximizes the advantages of OLED and can be used in various places in our daily lives, from stores, shopping malls, and architectural interiors to autonomous vehicles, subways and aircraft", says Jong-sun Park, vice president from LG Display.
The executive also states that the technology "will grow in a new generation of displays that change the paradigm of current displays." The brand predicts that its OLED TV will one day reach restaurants, transport and public environments - which already has transparent OLED panels on the subway in China.
