SpaceX was founded by famous technology billionaire Elon Musk in 2002 (also CEO of Tesla Motors). Since then, it has been surprising over the past 18 years with reusable rockets - making access to space cheaper with manned missions to the International Space Station (ISS).

Falcon 1 

falcon 1In honor of the Star Wars "Millennium Falcon", due to its unique propellant, the rocket was developed for testing. There were five launches between 2006 and July 2009, with failure in the first three and success only in September 2008.


Falcon 9 

falcon 9With 9 thrusters, Falcon 9 made its first flight in June 2010, putting the first generation of Dragon capsule into orbit. In 10 years there were 113 launches, of which 111 were successful

Grasshopper

grasshopperThe prototype was developed to gain the Falcon 9 landing experience. It was not a commercial rocket, but designed for low-altitude flights in our atmosphere. In October 2013, the Grasshopper reached an altitude of 744 meters

Falcon Heavy

In the heavyweight style, the Falcon Heavy is capable of putting 63.8 tons in orbit, against 22.8 tons of the recent version of Falcon 9. Its first flight was made in 2018, sending the Red Tesla Roadster driven by a mannequin into space. space suit, to the sound of “Life on Mars” by David Bowie.


Crew Dragon

Designed to carry up to seven crew members for missions to Earth orbit, Crew Dragon is not classified as a rocket, but as a capsule. In May 2020 it took astronauts Behnken and Doug Hurley to the ISS. Like the Falcon 9, it lands in the ocean with the aid of parachutes


Starship

Much talked about in recent weeks, Starship is the current project of the company SpaceX. Development continues to accelerate with the intention of taking astronauts to the moon and colonizing Mars. SN8, SN9 and SN10 hit the ground, but exploded on impact. SN11 was not very lucky and started to explode in the air. The launch of the SN15 has been postponed to the beginning of May, but has yet to be determined.
