eVTOL: Embraer's flying car
Embraer's flying car could cost more than $500,000.
Unveiled in March of this year, Embraer's “flying car” (eVTOL - electric vertical take-off and land, which means Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing) could cost between US$ 500,000 and US$ 600,000 to be viable. The idea is to transform it into a new popular means of transport and also air taxi.
Still with little information, but according to the former president, the total project should cost more than US$ 300 million. The flying car has a drone appearance, with rotating propellers and thrust engines at the rear. The first sale of eVTOL was announced on June 1st to Halo air taxi company in the US and UK. The agreement involves the production of 200 aircraft and the development of operations in the countries.
On the 6th, Eve (a company created by Embraer to accelerate the development of the urban air mobility ecosystem) closed yet another partnership. Now with Helisul Aviation, the helicopter operator in South America, it has ordered up to 50 eVTOLs with delivery until 2026.
The oldest partnership is Uber, which started the project, with the subsidiary EmbraerX. In July Eve took the first simulator flight. In October, the scaled-down model made its flight. The aircraft will have pilots and will also be able to operate in the future.
