Types of wine ideal for summer

White, rosé, sparkling or red. Nothing beats the freshness of the wines in the hottest season of the year.

For those who think wine is a winter thing, in warm countries and regions it is consumed all year round. Australia, Mediterranean Europe, Chile, Argentina ... This fermented nobleman goes very well whether by the fireplace or beach sand. It is necessary to take into account some factors such as wood, acidity and alcohol content. Check out each of its categories:


Whites

Forget the fear of wines sold in the market. Almost anything goes: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay without wood - privilege those with screw cap. Choose newer vintages, Chile, Brazil and drink cold. This type is perfect with oysters and various seafood. Portuguese green wines are also great companions of the season.


Reds

Cabernet Franc, Gamay grapes, Pinots, some Portuguese and Italian grape varieties. Without wood and simple: the regions are Loire, Toscana, Dão Portuguese and some basic Serra Gaucha.


Fortified

With a dose of wine brandy in its elaboration, degrees above 16% by volume: Madeira, Jerez, Ports. Fine or Manzanilla, are perfect as an aperitif in summer. White Port can even be used for drinks: try removing the gin and preparing a beautiful Port Tonic.


Sparkling wine

There are great national and French sparkling wines outside the Champagne region - especially the pure Chardonnay or blanc de blanc. Bet on low-alcohol Prosecco grapes - don't forget the ice bucket, the glass, the silver, the plastic, just can't be without it.


Rosés

Not very common in Brazil, Rosé wine is typical of the European and American summer. Very refreshing, they are a blend of red and white - they blend perfectly with seasonal dishes. You can choose from Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir or Grenache.
