Bugatti rolls out convertible supercar
Unveiled by Bugatti last weekend, the fastest convertible in the world will have 1,600 horsepower and only 99 units available.
Last Friday (16), Bugatti released an official teaser of the W16 Ministral, the supercar of only 99 units - all sold before it was even presented to the public. Bolstering an astounding 1,600 horsepower and priced to sell for $5 million in the convertible version, this will be the last of the French brand's combustion engine era; future models are all hybrids.
"There can be only one goal in mind: to become the fastest roadster in the world once again," the company said in its announcement. The Ministral will be launched on the most powerful version of Bugatti's 8.0-liter quad-turbo engine. The unit, derived from the Chiron SuperSport, can generate no less than 1,578 horsepower.
Despite being inspired by the Chiron, the new supercar from Bugatti still displays an exclusive look. The headlights have a vertical shape, placed closer to the fenders, with new LED graphics.
The horseshoe-shaped grille seems to be bigger than the Chiron's, but there is also another difference: the convertible's lanterns look like a "V", while the Chiron's illumination is formed by a completely straight fillet.
The engine will be the same as the Chiron Super Sport, with 8.0 W16 (with four rows of four cylinders), capable of delivering 1,578 hp of power. The dual-clutch transmission has seven gears and directs its power to all four wheels.
According to Bugatti, the final speed borders 420 km/h, surpassing its former convertible, the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, produced between 2013 and 2015, thus becoming the fastest production roadster in history.
The first cars will be out by 2024 and after that period, Bugatti will focus on producing hybrid and electric supercars.
