Carnaval and caipirinha are symbols of national culture that are famous abroad. After all, the two together match perfectly! Despite being an easy drink to prepare, it is common to make it too sweet or with too much ice. It is important to choose the correct lemon, quality cachaça and add the exact amount of sugar. Wanna know more? See our tips for making the perfect Caipirinha:
Slicing the lemon
The white part of the kernel must be removed from the lemon, it is responsible for making the drink bitter - it can be quite unpleasant. Use a sharp, small knife to avoid wasting fruit juice.
Ideal glass
Choosing a glass in the low model can make all the difference in the taste of the Caipirinha. It prevents the ice from melting fast leaving the drink watery, or the lemon ends up souring by staying too long.
Avoid the shaker
The Caipirinha must be made directly in the glass, unlike other drinks. Prepare with the lemon slices facing upwards - so it will be easier when macerating and preventing the bitterness of the peel from remaining in the cocktail.
SugarIn traditional Caipirinha, one or two tablespoons of white sugar is enough. For those who want to bet on a healthy recipe, you can use organic or demerara. Another tip is to make a syrup: 250 ml of water, 250g of sugar and stir until dissolved. Wait for it to cool and keep it in the refrigerator for one month.
To peel or not to peel?
In fact, the peel does not need to be removed, the important thing is the crumb. The white part of the lemon is largely responsible for the bitter taste in the Caipirinha, remember to remove and enjoy the juice in the best way.
Cachaça (Sugarcane liquor)Go for transparent cachaças. Gold was produced to be a pure drink, due to its stronger flavor. Silverware to be used in drinks - bet on high quality brands, this will enhance the flavor even more.
