New Mercedes-AMG GT
Presented last Friday, Mercedes announced a new sports car with 577 horses to compete directly with the Porsche 911.
Mercedes-AMG unveiled last Friday (18th) in Carmel, California, the second generation of the Mercedes-AMG GT, now bigger and more comfortable to compete with the Porsche 911. Keeping the V8 engine and adding 2+2 options for a trunk with hands-free access, without sacrificing performance.

Now exclusively coupé, the changes also appear in the bodywork. The structure was developed in steel, aluminum, magnesium, carbon composite and fiberglass. The measurements have also been tuned to improve aerodynamics, carefully sculpted to improve drag in the air.
The sports car gained 1.82 cm, reaching 4.73 cm, while its wheelbase increased by 7 cm, totaling 2.7 m. Its other measurements are 1.98m wide (4.5cm rise) and 1.35m high (6.6cm rise). The trunk capacity, which can vary between 321 liters and 675 liters.
It is also possible to notice the more pronounced fenders at the rear, active systems in the floor and the active rear spoiler. An aerodynamic package with several options will be available with a rear diffuser and 21-inch wheels.
Inside, the Mercedes-AMG GT does not leave out luxury. Highlight for the shell-type seats with heating and upholstery in premium material, as well as the steering wheel.
The multimedia center features an 11.9-inch Mercedes MBUX system. On the instrument panel, there is another 12.3-inch display that prioritizes the main information for a track day.
As for the engine, it features a 4.0 biturbo V8 with two different configurations. In the weakest version, reserved for the 55 version, the engine delivers 476 hp and 71.4 kgfm, making the coupe go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 295 km/h.
In the GT 63 model, the V8 now delivers 585 hp and 81.6 kgfm of torque. In this configuration, the time from 0 to 100 km/h drops to 3.2 seconds, while the top speed rises to 315 km/h. In both cases, the transmission is the 9-speed AMG Speedshift automatic, with a wet start clutch in place of the torque converter.
These options are the same as the SL convertible, which also offers an entry-level version with a four-cylinder engine. However, this information has not yet been confirmed by Mercedes.
Scheduled to hit the US market in mid-2024, the value has yet to be announced, but should be in the $100,000 range.
