Meet the Hyundai Grandeur Electric
Hyundai has paid homage to the Azera from the 1980s, now in an electric version in the best retro style.

In today's world, where technology is advancing more and more and everything becomes instantaneous, it is natural for many to miss bygone eras, such as the 1980s. This nostalgia has influenced several areas, including fashion, music and, more recently, the world of automobiles.
Proof of this is the Hyundai Grandeur Heritage Series EV Concept, a modern and electric reinterpretation of the iconic Hyundai Azera, originally launched in the 1980s.
In South Korea, the Hyundai Azera, known as the Grandeur, marked an era when it was launched in 1986. Developed in partnership with Mitsubishi, this luxury sedan was a milestone for the South Korean brand. Now, decades later, Hyundai has decided to pay homage to this classic model, with an electric engine.
The Grandeur Heritage Series EV Concept maintains the square look and straight lines characteristic of the 1980s, but with a series of updates that bring it into the 21st century. The headlights and taillights, for example, preserve their original shapes, but now use LED lighting with light points that recall the pixelated design of the Ioniq line.
The front grille, although unnecessary in electric vehicles, was maintained and received chrome details in the shape of small squares, highlighting the nostalgic appeal. The wheels were also redesigned, displaying a polished finish that reflects the luxury of the time.
Inside, the concept combines the best of both worlds. While the door panels and the instrument panel were covered in wood and leather, reminiscent of classic luxury, the seats are upholstered in Alcantara and velvet, materials that were considered the height of style in the 1980s.
The modern touch comes from a giant screen that integrates the instrument panel and the multimedia center, in a style reminiscent of Mercedes-Benz models.
Hyundai has spared no expense in equipping the interior with cutting-edge technology. The center console features an additional screen that offers entertainment functions, including an 18-speaker audio system and even the ability to play the piano on a digital keyboard, an innovative and unexpected feature for a vehicle.
The interior lighting also follows the LED pattern, emitting a copper tone that perfectly matches the rest of the design.
Unfortunately, the Grandeur Heritage Series EV Concept is just a design study and is not expected to make it to the production line.
