Thailand
Originally Prathet Thai, Thailand is a place where history and paradisiacal places merge into a geography surrounded by other interesting countries, such as Laos, Myanmar, Camboja and Malasya, and consequently by several different cultures (even though the most influenciable ones are the Indian and the Chinese).
Precisely for its geographical localization, it is necessary to pay attention to the time of the year you choose to visit Thailand, since it can be wildly hot between March and May, and incredibly rainy from June to October.
In the past years the touristic sector has gone through deep changes, and the offer of touristic attractions and accomodation has improved a lot. Thailand is a place where you can feel safe, and communicating in English is pretty easy around there. Another positive characteristic is the locals´ receptivity. Most are friendly and helpful when it comes to dealing with visitors.
The capital city Bangkok is currently Asia´s most cosmopolitan city. Huge buildings share space with an infinity of Buddhist temples, and the large number of international restaurants live peacefully with the amazing local gastronomy, famous for its spicy flavors.
The city offers innumerable touristic options, from wandering around their Chinatown to walking by the Chao Phraya river and visiting the Wat Pho temple, famous for its Buddah, one of the world´s largests. To visit the Grand Palace it is compulsory to wear appropriate clothes, such as loose trousers and long-sleeved shirts or t-shirts.
You should also pay a visit to the so-called klongs, the city canals. The best commercial area, with several stores and nice restaurants, is the Asiatique Riverfront. Contemplating the view in Chao Phraya gives you scenes that will stay with you for a long time.
In Bangkok it is also possible to organize tours to other interesting parts of the country, among which I would recommend these places in the South:
Last but not least, here are a few sentences about their food and my recommendations for you:
Thai food stands out for its essencial ingredients, such as pepper, lime juice, brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, basil, bamboo shoots, rice and pasta. The five flavors which are always present in their dishes are: sweet, sour, salty, spicy and bitter. Composed by several different dishes and specific ingredients from each region, the Thai kitchen offers fish, meat and poultry served with greens and under strong influences from the Chinese culinary tradition.
If I could summon up, I would say it is a unique and amazing destination, it is an Oriental dream which it is tough to wake up from.

- Phuket is the country´s largest island, with its white sandy beaches and structure to attend the most demanding visitors. The most famous beach of this region is Patong, and up North I would say you could visit the Nai Yang and Ayan beaches.
- Koh Samui is smaller than Phuket, and consequently less touristic. I would recommend this island to those who are after beautiful landscapes, for it is a place composed by waterfalls and amazing views, besides being filled with Buddhist temples.
- Krabi is good for those who are after tranquility. It offers several adventure options, including aquatic sports, trekking and hiking tours. Try and go for a boat tour, so you can see Krabi´s several beaches.
- Ko Phi Phi is a tropical paradise. Please visit Long Beach and Monkey Beach, and enjoy their emmerald and turquoise waters.
