Southern Duo in Crisis

southern-duo-in-crisis

Hey, everyone! Welcome to our weekly column, the space where we talk about football as if we were in the stands, but with the elegance of someone invited to a party on the sidelines. Monday has arrived, and with it, that feeling that the weekend flew by and, in addition, took with it some precious points from teams that, poor things, are trying to find their way on the map.

There's no shortage of people wanting to react to everything, and we're no different. Speaking of which, the week starts with the soccer locker room hotter than the fight for a spot in the elevator at rush hour. And we're not just talking about the field. The broadcast war is raging, and here we are, caught in the crossfire, just trying to see who will get the best shot to see the goal. It's such an intense fight that we can already imagine Globo shouting "you can't react" at everyone complaining about life. A controversy so leaked it's already become a meme, right? Everyone wants their own space, but in the end, we choose the channel. Soccer is now a mix of sport and reality TV, and we love the drama.

And if there's drama, there's controversy, and if there's controversy, there's crisis. Our friend Grêmio, for example, is more lost than the ball in the opponent's goal. The loss to Mirassol was the final straw in a season that, according to analysts, is more like a horror movie than a romantic comedy. The team is close to the Z4, like that annoying neighbor who shows up unannounced. We understand that things are going badly, but can't we just turn on a GPS? The fans, who have always been a spectacle in their own right, are now more concerned about whether they'll have to live through another year of Série B drama. As they say, there's no shortage of drama, especially when the next game is a Grenal and at the rival's home ground, which, let's be honest, is also mired in a financial crisis after the tax break in São Paulo after being thrashed by Palmeiras.

But football isn't all about crises, and this round's results prove it. The ball rolled, the fans suffered, and we're here to comment on it all, with that humor only we can muster. Check out the round, which was eventful:

Serie A 2025 Results: The Score That Matters

Date

Confrontation

Result

Comment

13/09

Grêmio x Mirassol

0 x 1

The Lion went to Grêmio Arena and threw a bucket of cold water on the crowd. He won with the precision of a surgeon and proved he's not messing around.

13/09

Fortaleza x Vitória

2 x 0

The Lion of Pici ignored their opponent and did their homework. Vitória, poor thing, got tangled up defensively and watched Fortaleza advance in the standings.

13/09

Palmeiras x Internacional

4 x 1

Verdão showed they're the true home team and did whatever they wanted with Internacional. Colorado even tried, but the difference was so great it felt like a game of two halves.

13/09

Fluminense x Corinthians

0 x 1

Corinthians went to Maracanã and returned with a victory in their luggage. Fluminense played, but in the end, it was Corinthians' effort that mattered.

14/09

RD Bragantino x Sport

1 x 1

The energy drink team hasn't shown any energy in a while, not even playing at home against the bottom team.

14/09

Atlético MG x Santos

1 x 1

Another team that hasn't been playing well at home for a while is Atlético Mineiro. The most notable aspect of the match was the confrontation between Neymar and Lyanco.

14/09

Juventude x Flamengo

0 x 2

Flamengo is in such a good phase that it feels like they played against a team from Serie C, in this case Juventude, even in Serra Gaúcha.

14/09

Sao Paulo vs Botafogo

1 x 0

São Paulo's mixed performance was superior to Botafogo's throughout the match. There's been a time when the Lone Star team could only be called Botafogo, because there's no fire left.

14/09

Vasco x Ceara

2 x 2

The Cruz de Malta team and its chronic defensive problems. They managed to draw late in the game, with Ceará playing with ten men.

To complete the 23rd round, tonight there's a great game in Salvador; Bahia and Cruzeiro.

And that's it, folks. Football doesn't stop, and neither do we. We'll be back next week with more behind-the-scenes gossip, results, and, of course, our good old-fashioned humor to lighten your week. Stay safe!
