The desire of achieving the goal of the perfect body is a major concern of gym goers. Many seek a balanced diet, but at the same time adopt inappropriate eating behaviors and make use of nutritional supplements without professional guidance.

A product that has been in use in the US and recently arrived in Brazil is the pre-workout called "Jack3d". According to information from the manufacturer, it promises to provide the following benefits:
- lasting power like you never felt;
- higher resistance - you will be able to slow fatigue and make more repetitions while training;
- ability to lift more weight;
- incredible focus - meaning greater efficiency in less amount of time.
Even with the exposure of all the benefits on the label, it is important to know that in Brazil it can not yet be marketed as it hasn´t been approved by Anvisa organization due to the combination of some products contained therein.
Among the studies in the area of applied nutrition training there aren´t any which have analyzed the effects caused by Jack3d. Thus, we can only be based on their composition and know a little about its components and its reaction on our bodies - many of which still need extensive studies to obtain a more concrete and realistic conclusion. So here we go:
The composition of Jack3d is divided into two complexes: Y-RD ™ (153.33 mg) and ATP Carnosine-Vaso Complex ™ (3500.00 mg).
COMPLEX I: Y-RD™ (153,33 mg)
This first complex is also known as dimethylxanthine. It is a drug used to treat respiratory diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It has stimulatory effects by a structural form similar to that of caffeine. However, because of its side effects, it is now rarely used clinically. Theophylline is naturally found in the majority of tea, but in smaller amounts. Its main actions are:
• dilated bronchi in the lungs;
• increased strength of heart contraction;
• increased frequency (speed) of the heart´s contractions;
• increased blood pressure;
• increased blood flow to the kidneys;
• stimulating effect on the central nervous system (CNS), especially in part responsible for the control of breathing.
Some possible side-effects of theophylline include: diarrhea, nausea, increased heart rate, headaches, insomnia, irritability, dizziness and vertigo.
1.3 Dimethylamylamine: Dimethylamylamine, also called Methylhexaneamine is sold by industries as food dietary supplementation. This drug is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) due to lack of conclusive studies on the secure dose and stimulating effects - similar to amphetamines and ephedrine, which can cause dependence.
Schizandrol, causes an increase in concentrations of dopamine and serotonin in the brain leading to an increased feeling of pleasure and well-being. Therefore, it can also be used to treat behavioral disorders, anxiety and depression.
COMPLEX II: ATP-Carnosine-Vaso Complex ™ (3500.00 mg)

Creatine Monohydrate: studies show increased muscle mass, lean body mass, increased exercise capacity, strength and / or power, and performance with maximal contraction effort. Creatine is a compound found in muscles as creatine phosphate (CP). As a dietary supplement, it is commonly used in sports which require quick force production, in large amounts.
Beta Alanine: assists in increasing the muscle´s ability to block the acidifying effect of hydrogen (pH decrease), improving performance in addition to acting as an important antioxidant - promoting a faster recovery and less appearance of lesions. It acts on the recognition of the nutrients that are used by the cell in regulating the activity of certain types of enzymes in the metabolism of tryptophan (amino acid forming serotonin) and also aids in the protein synthesis process (formation of new proteins).
Caffeine: it has been used prior to physical exercises in order to delay fatigue and, consequently, improve physical performance.
L-arginine: it promotes relaxation of the blood vessels, reducing blood pressure.
