How to strengthen the brain

Just like our body, the brain also needs to be exercised. Some habits such as food, arts, music and physical training can directly impact the health of the mind. But with so many functions in everyday life, sometimes we end up doing things automatically. That's why we've prepared a list of 7 habits to develop better logical reasoning, concentration, memorization and help with your productivity.
1 - Focus on food
Our food directly interferes with mental capabilities. 20% of the sugar we consume goes straight to the brain, so we must be careful. Fermented with live lactobacilli, healthy fats like omega 3, chickpeas, coconut oil and berries are just a few examples of what can be added to your diet and give your brain a boost.
2 - Reasoning exercises
Crossword puzzles are great exercise for the mind, as is playing poker, chess or Sudoku. But if you don't like any of them, there are several apps to do thinking activities:
Match Up: exercises visual memory and logical thinking.
Fit Brain: works on concentration, attention and provides mathematical exercises.
Quick Brain: helps with logic and has the possibility to play in pairs or individually.
3 - Learn new languages
This is a great way to challenge your brain. When learning a new language, we expand our vocabulary, memorize different information, develop new skills such as making sounds and pronouncing words, attention, logical reasoning and planning. You can start on your own using the Duolingo app for example.
4 - Meditate
Meditation has many health benefits. She works on spiritual development, breathing, control of emotions and also the ability to concentrate. In addition, it is a great antidote against stress, which interferes with generating various diseases. According to some studies, just 10 minutes a day is enough to strengthen cognitive functions.
5 - Write down your ideas
Just as the habit of reading expands knowledge and keeps our brain constantly active, writing ideas on paper makes you connect with new thoughts. Try starting a logbook to put together to-do lists, write down goals and everything you consider important.
6 - Drop the autopilot
How about making a new way to work? This simple act can process and integrate a lot of information in your mind, as you will have new challenges. Try experimenting with writing with your left or right hand, sharpen your senses by picking clothes with your eyes closed, and memorizing the grocery list.
7 - Sleep well
Nothing like a good night's sleep and feeling rested in body and mind. But unfortunately with the accelerated routine, we can't always sleep for 8 hours. A poorly slept night can affect anxiety by up to 30%, also impairing decision-making. It's very important to have a relaxing bedtime routine, so start by leaving your cell phone aside an hour before falling asleep, as well as televisions and computers. Putting your phone in another room and investing in a clock radio can be a great option.
