In the vibe, in the mood

Like everything else in life, tendencies exist to take us, to drive us to do something. One of these days my mother asked me what was this "vibe", that she was always seeing on social networks. We gave her the gist by giving examples that people use daily
If we stop to think, our life revolves around this generation of tendencies. The macro trends, those that take a few years to sink in, but that can ultimately change an entire society, the pattern of consumption and behavior. And the micro-trends, those that arrive fast, are absorbed quickly and last for three to five years. And then both meet, as in the the digital revolution. And the social networks, which are the micros, and that for a while stay high or cover certain specific target audience.
Trends also come to our plates. We are in the "vibe" healthy, organic, vegan mood. All in search of perfect health, long life. We ate well, fed our children better and even our dogs were properly taken care of. The result is positive, people live much longer, and are preparing their homes, that is, their bodies, to cope with the stress of an ever more hectic life.
After the 2000s, everyone went to the gym to strenghthen their muscles. Then came the trends of martial arts, like jiu-jitsu. In 2010 everyone was running marathons. They still run, but now they share space with crossfiting, which is almost a type of cult, in which people need to post on the nets and shout to everyone else their craziest fitness achievements! Just like bodybuilding, jiu-jitsu, running and cross fit, the body startsfeeling the excesses, and when it does, here comes the Pilates people, another great trend of the last decade, perhaps, along with Yoga, that helps more than does harm.
The cars were square. Then they became more round. Now they are square again, even though some makes this year are showing rounded models again. Cell phones go through these trends in the same way as cars. They were gigantic, then minis. And now that they're almost computers, they're huge again. Huge, cherished and disputed. The war between brands of smartphones is not able to let us enjoy a new acquisition, because while we are figuring out our devices, two new models have just hit the market!
But life follows a pattern: trends. That's how it has been since the world is world. Fashion, which is nothing more than the new, a new way, is in everything. We are in this vibe, in this mood. Until new words come that will replace them.
