Visual communication

The success of the stickers in instant messaging applications is undeniable, with images of famous actors, everyday videos and those visceral attitudes that deep down we would like to have with some undesirable people. The memes are more than 100% present in the stickers, and the phrases with sarcastic, vengeful, ironic and self-pitying effects are pure success!

Fact: Our communication is practically visual these days. We were already quite happy with emojis and apps that update emojis, when thematic filters arrived with phrases, mottos, themes that let the posts speak for themselves. And then the stickers arrived... And then the conversation turns into an image, that image that sometimes goes for fun, but to send the real message!

Our social networks have never been so visible and dynamic! We like videos, quick photos, and instantaneity. The brands understood this and started to develop focused visual communication for us, the lovers of images and videos. The war between powerful applications is giving way, every day, to relentless news and updates. And whoever doesn't fit into this fierce dynamic of novelties ends up tired and depressed, without imagining that this is madness, an insanity. But we have to make sure that visual communication is a path of no return, it is part of our current culture, from the moment we find ourselves. Photos have always enchanted us. For over two centuries, people fell in love with photographs and the evolution of images only shows us that we are not going to leave this love behind.

There is an expression, native to the German language, which is called zeitgeist and which means the culture of a time, the cultural atmosphere of a certain time, which guides the attitudes and actions of people involved in this culture. An example? In 2021 we will find ourselves in the covid pandemic, wearing masks, working on computers in our homes, generating simultaneous information anywhere in the world. As a result, everything around changes and generates trends and consumer products that change our daily lives according to this current zeitgeist. If we analyze a period of a century ago, we will see that the zeitgeist of that moment was different, resulting in another culture, another posture, other actions.

Last week I saw a post about the arrival of new emojis, including modern and inclusive emojis! Some people take emoji communication very seriously. Have you ever noticed that there are many types of emojis blowing kisses? Some with hearts in their eyes, showing passion, others just a kiss and gave. People analyze kiss emoji submissions to know the intent of the sender! There are those who don't even pay attention to it, and send any kisses to anyone.

That visual communication is a reality, we already know. We will adapt as we increasingly demand the need to express ourselves. In the meantime, we put aside writing and listening, stunting our intellectual abilities while improving our creative abilities. Good on the one hand, very bad on the other...
