Vanity, care or excess?

The content about male beauty shows that we are in a moment of equity in several aspects. There is clearly a division of opinions between accepting and despising men's beauty care, and of course, it opens up space for discussions of all kinds.

There are people who don't even want to talk about it and immediately shoot gratuitous offenses around. But for some men it's ok to talk about male beauty care, without leading to a valley of criticism and offenses, but to the moment of understanding that it is a reality without any intention of stereotyping those who currently take care of themselves.

But first we need to look at the very distant past, a few centuries ago, when men and women had their very stark differences in society, but they could have their toilets equivalent. If men who are offended today by the indication of using some simple care products and cosmetics (such as daily use of sunscreen on the face and anti-aging creams) knew that men in the past wore pantyhose to show off their virility legs, it would be a great disappointment to his manhood.

Men wore long hair wigs, combined all their clothing items according to the place they were going to attend, that famous social dress code. They wore shoes with chunky heels along with tight woolen socks and short, puffy shorts. A quick search on the internet for works of art from the time (because the paintings are photographs of that time) will show us this well-curated costume for men. And the more noble and wealthy, the more careful they were, as it still happens.

Cosmetics brands bet on men's lines and products such as shampoo, soaps, facial moisturizers and other treatments developed especially for men, in order not only to maintain a good appearance, but mainly focused on health and care. As men tend to take less care of themselves and therefore end up contracting and developing more diseases throughout their lives, this current charge has a good purpose, for sure!

In the queues of supermarkets and pharmacies (mainly in large drugstore chains) it is possible to have access to many beauty products. For men and women. The checkout space is already prepared to sell a variety of products to those waiting for payment. It's good because we remember to buy some things we need and would never remember (only when we need to) and bad because we spend more on superfluous and unnecessary things, which we often buy to take advantage of the value of an offer.

When a man takes care of himself in excess, he ends up experiencing embarrassment, especially among his friends. He becomes a joke in the conversation wheel. Some share the hair dryer with their girlfriend, the beauty products bench with their wife in the couple's bathroom and also look for specialized professionals, such as a dermatologist, hairdresser, personal trainer, among others. Which is fine, right? Except for those who like to take care of other people's lives. We women like men who smell good, are well dressed, who are healthy. We just can't forget one thing: neurotics and exaggerations we'll find both in the men's wing and in the female wing...
