Gym fertile ground just to work out?

We all know that anyone who goes to the gym is looking for a healthy and generally beautiful body. But is the gym currently just for working out your body?

Have you noticed, especially those who go to a training center, such as a gym, CrossFit box, among others, that this has become a fertile space for entertainment and flirting? Do we still use the word “flirt”?

In times of social networks and dynamics of first being friends virtually and then meeting people in person, the gym is the best old-fashioned social bond we have to support each other. Before, women spent hours in the beauty salon gossiping and men at poker tables, saunas and after some sports like tennis at club tables chatting and drinking something. Over the years, with the arrival of social media and then the pandemic, the fashion is to go to the gym to socialize and meet people who have the same “vibe” as you.

At the gym there are several different groups: the root-style marombeiros, who go to work out with a partner who will hold the bench press bar, the girls from internet training (Tik Tok and Instagram) who do some somewhat dubious juggling, the young ones after of the class, the fittest gentlemen, the couples who want to lose weight together and save money by hiring a personal trainer. I know your gym has this, mine does too. And of course you will remember other groups, just as I remember several, but I wanted to bring out the ones that stand out the most.

Before, we stopped training in old advertising t-shirts and unused shorts and only occasionally bought pants or something more specific, like sneakers, to work out. Special clothes for working out? Yes we do. But there are people who overdo it. Make the gym floor a catwalk. And what was supposed to be a relaxed look for training turns into something exaggerated. Lately, men are even wearing “egg bucket” style hats at the gym, combined with high socks and stylish shorts that are far from sporty.

Women are a separate case. Extremely made-up, very short clothes and exaggerated necklines, transparencies in the pants. Of course, everyone dresses how they want, the idea here is just to point out what is appropriate in relation to the exercise, that is, what helps and what is aesthetic. Some embarrassing situations end up happening when you're with someone, it's a turn your head as if you hadn't seen that girl in extremely tight pants doing squats in front of you.

After the pandemic, most gyms abolished the use of towels and adopted what they call a hygienic towel (a disposable cloth to clean equipment after use). So it's released freely on the devices and then splashes a bunch of chemicals to clean it and we sit down afterwards. There's a parade of sneakers, buttocks, biceps, arrival cars, false eyelashes and decorated nails. It's crazy! It's no wonder that several humor profiles on the networks make jokes about the day to day life at the gym!

With so many peculiarities, we will still thank the gym space for the in-person meetings. I love meeting my friends there, I also go with my husband and make sure I don't make a mistake in any of the issues I mentioned here. But we always slip up on something, don't we? Which of the groups are you in and which of the tricks have you already paid for within the gym?
