Healthy resolutions for 2013
It is not only the women who watch their eating and drinking habits after the holiday season. The abundance present in this time of the year might result in a heavier (and more painful) weight scale number. In order to send the extra pounds away, nothing is best than going back to the healthy options and take some rest so your biological clock goes back to normal as soon as possible.
Have you enjoyed the feast to the most? Well, now that the festive season is over, it is about time we started looking after our health.
Detox diet is fashionable these days. The ones who have already tried following a liquid diet for a day have said it is worth it – especially after so much excess. Made for those who are willing to eliminate water retention, this detox is made out of powerful food items blended into nutritious juices. Among the most common ingredients are the cabbages and green leaves in general, fruits such as pears and pineapples, grains, seeds and nuts. The diuretic effect of the liquid diet also gives extra strength to the skin and hair.
Iced tea is also one of the greatest alternatives when it comes to increasing the metabolic burn. The composite of green tea and ginger, for example, works as a powerful termogenic. You can add lime to that if you like. The ideal, though, is to keep it as natural as possible. Try not to add sugar or sweetners to these teas, since their bitterness is the big responsible for the results felt in our bodies.
As hydration is important no matter the temperature outside, flavored water might be an interesting alternative – especially if you are not one of those I-drink-2-liters-of-water-every-day kind of person. To make your own flavored version, add either mint leaves, pomegranade seeds or cherries in a bottle of mineral water and leave it to rest for about 24 hours. Besides hidrating the body, you provide it with the benefits of each item – not to mention the mild, refreshing flavor!
Now if you cannot resist to the happy-hour snacks, try to go for those which are low in fat. Instead of going for fries and peanuts, how about filling a bowl with diced ricotta cheese, dried fruit and salted sticks? Remember the yellower the cheese, the fatter it is!
Since it is still January, how about adding all these measures on your healthy resolution list for 2013? If you are willing to do that, try also exchanging salad dressings for natural lemon or lime juice mixed with herbs, eating grilled meat instead of fried, and ingesting more natural juices than soda. I don´t even need to remind you on the importance of drinking lots of water and eating your five-a-day every day. Right?!
If you are not sure about how to give it a kick start, talk to a Nutritionist. The professional will certainly help you finding a way between the pleasures of eating and your goal for the year. Hopefully these tips were useful so we can all live healthily ever after. Happy New Year!
