We live in an era of health care, where everyone wants to be physically and mentally well. The segment of healthy products and services increasingly grows, and gyms and supplement stores bite off a big chunk of the market. Natural emporiums and shops have also conquered their spot in the sun selling organic products, vegetables, fruits and all kinds of food advisable for those who want to keep fit and healthy.

There are some foods that help boosting metabolism and burning the extra fat. Plus, they are healthy and certainly won’t cause you any harm – as it happens to pills and other supplements availabe in the market. Shall we check some of them?


- broccoli: it prevents cancer, has very few calories, and  helps in losing weight.

- orange: it contains vitamin C, and in general carries only 59 calories per unit.

- baked beans: beans have for long been seen as villains, but they are the first in the list of the most powerful foods for weight loss. Black beans have no saturated fat and about 15 grams of protein per cup. Red beans provide 5 grams of protein and 4 grams of resistant starch per cup, whereas white beans have twice as much that amount - about 8 grams of resistant starch per cup.

- salmon: rich in lean proteins and omega 3, has no saturated fats like red meat.

- oatmeal: rich in fiber, satiety remains throughout the day. A cup of oatmeal has 9 grams of resistant starch.

- quinoa: grain-like crop, quinoa seeds contain essential amino acids like lysine and good quantities of calcium, phosphorus, and iron.

- skimmed milk: ingesting calcium, especially for women, helps in burning fat and the extra calories. In addition to having protein, has little fat.

- chicken: besides having a lot of protein, it is time consuming to be digested by the stomach. Chicken assists in lean mass and fat burning.

- yogurt: contains calcium and amino acids which together burn fat.

- green tea: the drink helps a lot in burning fat, and is full of catechins - nutrients used to increase metabolism and decrease the size of your waist.

- cold water: we say cold because your body needs more energy to warm it up, boosting your metabolism.

- pepper: just as it happens to cold water, when ingesting pepper you boost your metabolism, which helps in the fat burning process.

- eggs: careful with them. At the same time they are rich in protein, they are also rich in fat. One egg a day is okay.

- dark chocolate: a piece of dark chocolate slows digestion, and you eat less in your next meal. It is rich in monounsaturated fat, which helps in the fat burning process.

- pistachio: it contains the right balance of healthy fat, protein and fiber, that combined  increase satiety and boost metabolism.
