The perfect wardrobe
Dressing well has nothing to do with money. It may rather be a matter of style. Of course earning good money helps when it comes to acquiring quality clothing. On the other hand, many rich guys are far from being elegant.
In Middle Age men wore heels and tights, not to mention theu huge wigs, and strong make-up. At that time, the more time they spent on their looks, the more virile they were seen by society. Many years later, men restart thinking looking good is not only a priviledge of the ladies, and start caring a bit more about their semblance, without crossing the line between exaggeration and elegance.
Globalization has given us, among many things, the possibility of buying international brands for an affordable price. With standard modeling, which is somewhat good, you can create interchangeable outfits and work with different combinations.
Menswear in recent years has had major changes and nowadays goes parallel to women"s fashion. The tendencies are strong, and there is no need to worry about some fashion trends, such as colorblocking (several strong color pieces on the same look), navy, stripes, amongst others.
Invest in classic pieces is a great option. Prices vary a lot, of course, so the most important thing here is to go for quality items, that will last for years instead of a couple of months only. I have worked on a list of items that should be part of every men´s wardrobe. Here are the pieces of male clothing that never go out of fashion and are a synonym for elegance:
- a white shirt with great modeling
- black, salmon and striped shirts (blue and white, or black and white for the striped ones)
- a black jacket
- a trench coat
- chino pants in navy blue, beige, black, and gray
- black and gray classic pants
- a black blazer and a blue blazer
- black shoes, mocassin shoes
- beige, navy blue and white shorts
- white T-shirts
- polo shirts in white, beige, navy blue, black, and stripped
- cool ties (black, blue, lavander, pink)
- a black and a brown belt
- a denim or nylon jacket
These pieces can all be cimbined amongst each other, and you can wear them in the office, the nightclub, that hot date, the pub with friends... It might seem a lot of items for some people, but I bet some of you already have most of them in your closets. Instead of buying clothes that do not match your style, go for the ones you already own and work on different combinations.
