Gorpcore trend

gorpcore-trend
For sure you have seen it around, but you should know  that the name of the trend of the moment, among men and women, is known as gorpcore. The name comes from the  English, from the acronym gorp for good old raisins and peanuts (a mixture of dried fruits and nuts that replenish energy on trails and hikes), but it can also be called hikercore, glamping or mountain chic.

Inspired by functional winter sports clothing and the idea of camping freely, gorpcore has been an aesthetic that reminds us of the freedom that was taken in the pandemic, to travel and go out to be on the street. The word that connects clothing to the trend is certainly functionality, as the pieces are from functional clothing and take to the streets with more style.

But let's talk about clothes! Cargo pants lead the trend, with lower waists and longer legs. Light and synthetic fabrics, with the possibility of hybrid models (which are shorter or become Bermuda shorts). The carabiners and mountaineering triggers appear in the parts functions.

The puffer jackets, the padded ones that are typical for snow skiing, appeared in collabs of trendy brands with traditional winter sports brands with outdoor brands that gained notoriety in fashion and are coveted pieces! Windbreakers, a light jacket widely used in racing and cycling, have become fashion items and in the gorpcore trend they are broader and full of pockets.

There is room for men's bags in the gorpcore style too, pierced and full of compartments for bottles, cell phones, glasses, headphones. The vests also gain a variety of compartments and pockets.

Smaller caps and also nylon hats, reminiscent of those fishing, camping hats, gave the air in collections of iconic brands. Mask-style sunglasses, with that skydiving air, are the accessories of the moment. Socks and sneakers to give a final touch to the look! The fisherman sandal, the famous papete (hated by many) is worn with socks in the gorpcore style.

The palette of earthen  tones is predominant, with an emphasis on nude, military green and ice gray tones. Black and mustard yellow for large jackets, as well as bright tones like orange and yellow appear in striking pieces with a hood and volume. The fabrics are designed in function, lighter, as if they were resistant to cold, rain and wind. In the best skydiver style!

It's a very adventurous spirit!
